|We are now members of The Association of Scout & Guide Centres for 2016|
On 1st May 2014, the District celebrated 100 years of Scouting in the area and which is thriving and our Young People are enjoying access to an ever wider variety of adventurous activities in a safe environment.
Serving the young people of the Spen Valley District of West Yorkshire, the District Scout Council has 9 Scout Groups in the area covering the communities of Cleckheaton, Gomersal, Scholes, Hightown, Liversedge, Birkenshaw and Hunsworth.
The Scout Movement in Spen Valley has, since May 1914, provided Scouting in the area and continues to do so today with our Young People enjoying access to an ever wider variety of adventurous activities, in a safe environment, under the care of an extremely capable, talented and committed Adult Volunteer Leadership Team.
Our Campsite, which forms the epicentre of the District, lies within 2 miles of Junction 26 of the M62 between Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield.
It is close to many Visitor Attractions such as, The Red House Museum in Gomersal itself, Oakwell Hall and Country Park, in nearby Birstall, both of which are famed for their connections to the Bronte Family, The Eureka Childrens Museum in Halifax, and many more.
We look forward to welcoming you in person to our District!
